Where possible we will recycle and upcycle furniture and try to find it a new home but more often than not, we will need to dispose of at least some of the items that we clear. These items will only be disposed of at Government approved waste sites.

As a householder, you have a ‘duty of care’ to take all reasonable measures to make sure that any household waste produced on your property including old furniture is only transferred to an authorised person.

If the company/person who carries out the clearance is not authorised to do so or if the waste is fly-tipped, you could be prosecuted and fined if you have not taken all reasonable measures to meet your ‘duty of care’ obligations.
